NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes for the 9/11 World Trade Center Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11, in New York City. The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed, after the final scheduled collection of mail on Saturday, Sept. 10. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday morning, Sept. 12. Postal officials advise local customers to make plans to mail outgoing items on Saturday or Monday morning accordingly.
